Help! Made a Typo on Resume
Hi guys, after submitting my resume to most of BBs and Boutique Banks for next year’s SA position in IBD and other divisions,I found that I made a mistake on my resume under experience section: I wrote laundry instead of laundering....I am not sure how obvious the mistake is to the recruiters and I have gotten interviews from some banks, though I’m not sure if that necessary means I have passed the resume screening process. What should I do? Is this typo going to cost me any chance of getting an offer? Please please help me! I would love to hear your opinions.
Do you guys think I still stand a chance of getting an offer at all?
Well to be completely upfront with you, you have to admit that the resume you sent was a rough draft . After this, send them your real resume and apologize for the error. No lies, if you make a single spelling mistake, you're either going to get screamed or the the top of the firm will criticize you. Just be honest and I accidentally sent them wrong and I am sure they will understand
No lies, you messed up. How do you even confuse laundry and laundering. Not out of my mind, you would be asked to leave and never come back to be given a return offer. You want to know what they are going to say, " We noticed you have made numerous linguistics errors, you shouldn' be part of the team. Also whether in notepad or Microsoft office, they even give you recommendations on how to place the syntax of the work.
Pretty much: You pretty much f*cked up.
I actually checked for grammatical mistakes but somehow I missed that word...a hard lesson learned.
lol I actually think you could totally spin this. Chalk it up to a regional linguistic difference (claim a different family background if you're clearly from nearby). This isn't as bad as a straight up misspelling or verb tense error. Don't draw attention to it; let it go.
Thank you. Do you think I still stand a chance of getting an offer though? I'm so scared....
Unless it had to do with the difference between a sweet laundromat that you've been going to forever that does a great job (a money laundry) and the concealment of the origins of illegally obtained money (money laundering), you're probably ok.
Yea, it had to do with that :(( Am I totally screwed? How likely will they find out the error? Given that I received my video interviews, does that mean they kinda overlooked it? Should I send them a new resume? Thanks so much!
Not worth stressing about in my opinion - I was mainly joking. You're getting interviews, which means recruiter aren't stressing about it either and your resume is passing whatever algos it needs to.
Your hobby is laundering? As in money laundering? Enjoy your background check
