Help me choose a school
Hello all,
I'm currently a senior interested in following my dad's footsteps in the finance industry. (It's a rather interesting situation, the people in my close friend group all have parents doing some sort of finance job at Wells Fargo in Charlotte) This isn't really a legitimate reason to decide a career IMO, but I've taken an interest in finance because of the involvement of computer science and mathematics. (Really enjoyed math/MathMod competitions in high school, just started getting into C++ and Java this year) There's obviously still way too much that I don't know but I've learned a lot from this website.
While I didn't really meet my college goals, I'm still content with my current options, which I have narrowed down to UNC Chapel Hill and Carnegie Mellon's College of Science. Since I'm a North Carolina Resident, the annual tuition for undergrad at UNC-CH is $21,000, while CMU is around $70,000. My dad says that he doesn't mind for my college fees and encourages me to go but common sense tells me to go to Chapel Hill instead (Grad School seems like a good option here). I plan on majoring in some concentration of math with a compsci minor if I go to CMU (Or CompFi if I'm able to get into that program), while at Chapel Hill I'd pursue either a finance or math major. I'm curious on everyone's thoughts regarding the academic and career opportunities presented from both undergraduate colleges for their respective costs. I'm confident that I'll be able to enjoy life at either school, so I'm not too worried about community aspects.

UNC-CH is a great choice with lots of opportunities to network and figure out the areas of business you enjoy. The MAC Program is awesome there!
Hello, thanks for the suggestions. I just recently got accepted in Berkeley's College of Letters and Science off the waitlist. I have already committed to CMU, but I have the option to attend Berkeley as well, with intentions to major in either Math or Computer Science. The one 'problem' with Berkeley is that I'm offered the FPF program instead, where I have a more limited course selection for the first semester, with most courses to fill the breadth requirements. I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on Berkeley vs. CMU.
