Help me lose my job or lose a career

Hey dudes,

I'm currently in a masters of finance program and not working in finance. Also 2 years out from my undergrad. Found out my job was going to be done overseas this year. In so many words they said I can be transferred into a customer service role or I can move to HQ in Virginia and do documentation work on contracts which is kind of what I do now. The position isn't as bad as csvc but its still a lower rung than what I do now.

I asked about the finance department and they said there's no openings, now I'm looking into the Treasury side of the company to see if I can get in there but not hopeful because the whole department has never had an opening the whole time I've worked. Every other department (including my current one) has had multiple openings throughout my time. Oh and the kicker is they won't pay for my move to Richmond if I take that position (I'm in the PNW of the states).

So my options are:

1.) Be unemployed and focus on school/networking (my grad program is EC so I could move there to be closer for networking with IB/PE etc.)
2.) Take the job in Richmond and maybe get into the Finance/Treasury department after a few years if there's an opening. (The company requires a minimum of 1yr in a position before you can apply for another internal position)

The customer service position is not an option. It seems like too far of a step back.

Any advice/information would be appreciated.
