Help Pls!
Hi, I'm new to this forum and i'm researching on ibanking...i'm a freshman n clg and i would like to ask what does this mean?
on another forum someone said that
"Financial Advisors (brokers) will take almost anyone on as an intern. You don't need to know anything about business or finance"
Who are these "financial advisors"?
I would like to get an internship this summer at a financial-related company...over spring break i'm also getting an externship at one of the major investment banks...
Sorry i know this is pretty stupid but i'm pretty new to the subject...thanks in advance...
Financial Advisors are basically people you go to for financial planning. For instance, a person would do retirement planning there, maybe even estate planning. They deal in stocks, mutual funds, insurance, etc. They are the people who work at any Private Wealth/Asset Management office. I would suggest maybe looking at someplace like Wikipedia or Vault as I-Banking is a very broad term, and it is therefore hard to give a satisfying answer on here without typing a ton (which it feels like I already have). To put it very generally, investment banks provide numerous services to companies: underwriting (bringing a company public with an IPO), mergers and acquisitions (self-explanatory), raising capital via debt for a company, etc. This are the more strict definitions. However most "I-Banks" also do things like research and sales and trading, which usually fall outside the definition of I-banking. Hope this helps.
well...i think i know what f.advisors are...but that wasn't my question...which "financial advisors" are willing to take anyone for interns? Are these like in big firms or in small companies?
thanks!
