Helpful Skills To Learn For Wall Street?

I am going to be a freshman in college next year studying Econ and I am currently looking for things to learn that will help me as I prepare for a career on Wall Street. With COVID I have a good amount of free time, and I’m wondering what are good areas to gain knowledge in. I know it may seem early but I would like to expand my horizons so I can be a better investor in the future.

Any Ideas?

Really understand how compounding works.

Still worth reading the classics (e.g. Intelligent Investor, Margin of Safety etc) but don’t define “value” too tightly. The whole value vs growth styles are now being considered a false choice.

Depending on the type of investment you want to do - public vs private equity, credit, real estate you’ll find a bunch of books/articles/podcasts on those topics to learn more.

Set up a paper trading account if you don’t want to YOLO r/wallstreetbets style.

Develop your personality.

There are hundreds (thousands) of people with the technical skills that have been prepped, but a very small group that have both the personality and technical ability.

To be clear, you still need to prep for interviews and would be helpful to poke around a few models but your time is much likely better served talking to people on Wall Street (networking) and filling your time with things that make you interesting and standout.
