HF Returns - August/YTD
Just saw something up on BB.
Not surprising to see top gainers here in August with Light Street crushing YTD.
Anyone know of any smaller groups that have crushed the Post-March trade the hardest?

Who the fuck does Balyasny think it is? Citadel?
Are those his pronouns now?
Ha, funny. I'm using "it" to represent the firm. I don't think Dmitry does much on the investment side anymore, but I could be wrong.
kind of surprising. I haven't seen much hiring by the top MM performers here (Balyasny, Millennium, Exodus have all been relatively subdued) while Citadel and pt72 have been hiring like mad. It could be that pt72 is trying to replace a lot of cut PMs and their teams.
Agreed, P72 hasn't been that successful since moving out of being a FO. I think they'll rebound in a year or two.
It's been a long and tiring year even for top performers... You are always praying for vol until you get so much that you're just wishing for the days of non-sporadic moves.
I cant wait to see what Medallion did this year. If they pull it off with 50-60% returns again, I will be shocked.
They're up about 60% YTD according to the guy who wrote the book on Jim Simons.

Abdiel PM is literally killing, I swear, KILLING the game.
did cubist rebound? or still dragging otherwise phenomenal p72 performance?
they lost money earlier in the year, but have since made it back into the black
p72 or cubist?
think they didn't cut and held positions
Same story with most statarb funds, absolutely killed in Q1 and Q2, some have come back pretty strongly.
depends if they took risk off and caught the rally. Not many did.
Wow viking and tiger...
Those 40+ returns are primarily tech stock bets that have paid off handsomely from April to August ie. Light Street.
Lots of evidence of hiring at MMs by the end of September according to this article. How do the returns look like for September?

how'd SEG do?
