HFs in Southeast Asia

Hi, does anyone know what the hedge fund scene in Southeast Asia (mainly Singapore) looks like today? Which major global / regional funds have offices in Singapore? Any thoughts on who's doing well?

Thanks!

A couple of MM platforms have offices in the region and tend to be more macro-focused. Quantedge is probably the most notable fund in Singapore. Supposedly they run crazy leverage.

The issue with L/S equity in the region is low liquidity and the fact that a lot of the local regulators restrict shorting. As a result, most of the fundamentally oriented funds are either long-only or niche and secretive.

That being said. I would be very interested to hear from HF people who have actually lived in Singapore.

Yep Quantedge targets 30% vol for a systematic macro portfolio so they employ large leverage. The other Singapore name that is about same size is Dymon Asia, which is used to be a macro fund but converted to more of MM model recently.

Global MM funds like Millennium, ExodusPoint, BlueCrest (now more prop/family office than fund) and their spinoffs/related funds in Singapore as well.

Notably Citadel just opened an office here, though seems to be commodity-focused.
