Based in Dallas. Does anyone know anything about them? Analyst/Associate Pay? Work Life? etc.
since HF don't advertise, as far as careers/internships go, do you hear about different HFs from word of mouth?
don't know anything about their pay, but seeing these guys in the markets, i think they've made some bad investments... they've done ok for themselves recently i think, but when the market sours it wouldn't surprise me to see things go the other way there.
PM me and i'll tell you what i know.
Hello,
I AM looking for information on Highland Capital in regards to culture, compensation, and their typical candidate. I would greatly appreciate any information. ExGSBanker, I would like to message since you seem to have worked there, but I do not have enough points to message you.
Thanks!
heard from someone about 6 months ago that their guys are all jumping ship/trying to jump ship.

Bumping this thread. Can anyone shed some light on culture here? Heard mixed things and would like to poll a few more individuals, if possible.
Thanks in advance

Also, check Factiva or Lexis: "Aggressive approach Dallas firm is intense - whether it's hiring, investing or litigating" (2006):
"At Highland, Mr. Dondero has fostered a culture that treasures hard work. Employment contracts mandate the extra-long workweeks. Caterers bring in meals so employees don't have to leave their desks. And everybody must log into a software program that tracks work hours."
Saw this. I just don't take a great deal of stock in an account written over a decade ago.
Haven't worked with them, but rumor has it that the founder is a nightmare to work with and that working there can be a black mark on the resume. Supposedly they make you clock all your hours and watch you pretty closely. I can't verify if that's actually the case, but some of the stories seem kinda similar to what you may hear out of Point 72.
Realistically though, they're one of the largest shops in town and have been around for a while. I think most people would leap at the chance to work at a fund that size
