hours outside of NY, Chicago, SF, Houston--they do exist

OK--so I know there are i-banking groups at BB's and MM's outside of NY, Chicago, SF, Houston etc. They are few and far between, but if you search through online recruiting you can see a random energy IB analyst in phoenix or something. Do these guys work 85 hour weeks too?

What about boutiques--and i mean small 10-20 person M&A boutiques-- outside of the major areas? Most cities have them, and they have UG analysts--and I bet they work 60 - 80 hours.

Does anyone on this forum actually work outside of the major cities? Do you work typical hours and is your pay off because of it?

I am an analyst in a tech group and I don't work in any of the above cities. During busy weeks I can work up to a hundred hours a week and when it's slow I will work 65 hours a week. On average I would say I probably average a little less than guys at a BB, but not by much. My base is lower than the street, but bonus is supposed to be on par with the street, we'll see. The cost of living definitely makes up for the diff in base salary, I pay $700 / month for rent.
