"House of Lies"
I finally gave the Showtime show "House of Lies" a chance and I totally love it. Don Cheadle stars as a management consultant and shows high level of what consultants go through. (He actually won a Golden Globe for his role).
I was wondering what the community thought about the show.....
Heh @ Edmundo
I am totally expecting a "Marty Kaan" kinda lifestyle!
Hilarious show.
Especially the senior associate who is all about the "prestige" factor and HBS. Made me think of WSO
You mean Doug Guggenheim?
I died when he said "I pulled an all-nigher. I just need you to know that."
I missed the premier last night, but I thought the first season was pretty funny. Always been a Don Cheadle fan.
The web series is so awesome
Any place online I can watch season 1?

Same here. It reminded me of so many people I know.
This is a pretty funny set of videos too:
great show - pace and querkyness sets it apart
haha i love it
I've never watched it. But I've been wanting to. I think your post finally made me decide that I will.
It's hilarious. Some episodes are better than others though. There was an episode two weeks ago where they had an engagement at a dildo factory which was pretty good.

Who saw it? What you think?
not bad. will watch next episode.
Well, it's what Hollywood thinks working in consulting is like. Still entertaining though. I hope it doesn't end up just using management consulting as a setting for his relationship problems.
Hilarious show, even if accuracy has been sacrificed to appease the masses' (lack of) intellect. Don Cheadle is fucking hilarious and how could you say 'no' to a show with
in it!?
For those that missed it...
EDIT: Note that the video is NSFW!!!
First episode was fairly crass and lacked the wittiness necessary to be likeable. Will give it a few more chances to impress.
wasn't impressed sparticus will be much better
Was dissapointed in the pilot. Decently entertaining, good acting, but I expected a lot more from the script. Was not very clever and tried a little too hard. Hopefully will improve throughout the season.
Hilarious show. Typical Hollywood-ized take on an industry, but it's a humorous (though wildly inaccurate at points) depiction of the far-traveling, quick-thinking, gunslinging consultant who fucks and drinks his way through life. Tits galore, too.
i think its awesome lol
Love this show! Wish there was one like this for IB/trading
Well...

Two things...
1) House of Lies is hysterical. Don Cheadle is great. I love that Kristen Bell is back on the small screen and doing a show full time for another paid network (although Veronica Mars was pretty damned entertaining for basic cable) - and if you don't know what I'm talking about, see her guest spot on Party Down, which happened to be her last stint on TV in front of a camera and not in a role like as the "Voice of Gossip Girl". The rest of the cast is pretty well rounded too. I'm quite interested to see where this is going and have high expectations. After seeing the first episode, I am now really tempted to read House of Lies - the book that this is based off of. Yes, just to point something out, this is based off of real life with a little Hollywood flair added to it.
2) Doug Ellin, one of the producer behind Entourage, did want to do a show about the hedge fund industry. He was going to model it off of his brother Rob who runs Trinad Capital Management. It just never got off the ground with HBO.
yah look at how many types of "legal shows" there are... for christ sakes they have 9 different CSI's and Law and Orders... there has to be some more finance-themed shows coming down the pipeline
Party Down is the shit. Awesome show. Adam Scott is so funny, and the rest of the cast is great too. I'm happy they are doing a movie.
Surprisingly, not really. Nothing has made it out of pilot season that a financial slant to it.
Episode 2 is up...
[Again, NSFW]
Watched E2, so lewd, so hilarious. "Amsterdam!"
episode 2 should have been pilot!
So is this is how mgmt consulting is like?
management consultants gross 7 figs? Whaaaaaaa?
i would give up my bonuses if i got to work/travel with someone who looked like Kristen Bell
episode 2 blew.
Meh. Episode 2 was better than 1, but I'm still underwhelmed.
meh. I'm out.
Fuck SOPA! I'm gonna keep posting all season.
Here's Episode 3:
can u post sparticus AHOOO
Third episode is the best by far
Yeah, holy sh*t, for anyone who saw the first and/or second episodes and tapped out, WATCH THE THIRD.
Several standard deviations better television.
They finally fcking got their sht straight with the telestration/4th wall thing, they put together a compelling depiction of what consulting firms are actually being hired to do (CEO vs. CFO), and they use the phrase "big black cock", which made me lol.
This show is an epic win, just don't show it to your family! Hahahah. If only life were like that.
But yes, episode 3 does touch on a huge part: the relationship management aspect to the industry.
episode 5 is good lol
also i wonder if a bank would ever acquire a consulting firm
Considering Roland Berger wasn't allowed to enter the US market back when they were a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, it seems highly unlikely. As banks aren't allowed to practice consulting in the US, this story makes little sense. (unless we are talking strictly inhouse? Then again, I doubt any bank would buy a BCG-ish firm as a pure inhouse... nonsensical as well.)
Episode 4...
Anyone by any chance find this show very anti Harvard?
i love you guys for posting these!

Hey WSO,
Thought i'd share this new show called house of lies with all the monkeys interested in consulting on the site.I came across the show after finishing suits and although it isn't as good as suits (in my opinion) it has all the same characteristics that makes suits such a great show (banter between characters, models and bottles, hot girls and the hot shot attitude of being a baller in the industry.)
I'm currently on season 2 and I think the show deserves a lot more credit as its really been under the radar compared to suits.
Here's a clip:
Just realized that there are already some forum topics on the show but it can't hurt to leave this open to discussion since there are clearly some other monkeys who like the show.
You're really late to this one, dude... There have already been threads about the show since early 2012.
Pretty funny show.
Second season was much more dramatic/tense, but the next season should be interesting.
How close does the show portray the life of a consultant? With the exception of the strip-clubs, Escalades and Limos on the client's bill.
Very very close. It's pretty much a documentary.
Source: I gave Matt Damon a handjob while working on his charity.
Like I said in my post, I didn't do a search until I posted the thread. With that being said, the show is really under rated and i'm sure there are people who would be interested in checking out the show who wouldn't have found out about it unless those old threads were bumped. PS. thanks for the monkey shit
How long did you bill him for?
this is new and exciting
Anyone know where I can catch season 2 online?
Always an hour.
ya you are late to the party, but Marty fuckin Cahn (sp?) is the shit!
