How are modeling tests graded?

Hi all,

I was just curious how companies grade modeling tests? If they give you a modeling test in a short time frame and you don't finish the whole thing or you cant get it to be in parity or theres a few errors does that mean youre out? How do they grade these? Do they go through the model themselves or is it automatically graded somehow? Thanks!

Probably can't be automatically graded considering you'll have to make assumptions (unless they give these to you).

I'd say they're looking at a variety of things from the modeling test:

  1. Handling a task under time pressure.
  2. Attention to detail
  3. Accounting knowledge (does it balance, are your assumptions reasonable, error carried forward etc... )
