How are you guys approaching IB Recruiting?

Whats ur method? Are you applying through OCR, emailing MDs or applying to all IBs in general. Let me know what you guys are up to on that. Maybe I could pick up something along the way! Thanks!

Carnage:

Do all three. Use OCR to your advantage but also shoot out emails to anyone you can network - the sooner the better.

Already late.

"I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature."

I meant you are late to networking for SA positions.

HNEP:

To clarify, I meant by networking it was late. I'm not 100% familiar with SA formal applications, nor does my school offer any OCR, hence why I cold-call. My apologies.

you said most places are full as far as interns for next summer go. just admit when you're blatantly wrong.

EPIC indeed. I award NorthSider a silver banana. Its good you caught false pretenses on this thread. I awarded one to you too miscer!

Honestly a lot of super days may not have happened yet... I can't confirm as I am not in that process nor do I care to read up on it. But I can more or less guarantee that they have already screened out their lists and I know a lot of undergrads have already been interviewing (not sure if 1st rounds or super days)

False.

"For all the tribulations in our lives, for all the troubles that remain in the world, the decline of violence is an accomplishment we can savor, and an impetus to cherish the forces of civilization and enlightenment that made it possible."

@HNEP: The reason that you are being told that SA classes are full is because no firm wants a non target, who is incessantly cold calling every firm on the Street desperately asking for a job like Oliver Twist asking for food, to ever set foot inside their bank.

@HNEP: You might have better luck cold calling H&R Block. They have just started a pilot SA IB program that is brand new this year. The aim of the program is to let non targets get some relevant IB experience to be competetive for FT hiring. I heard that they are hiring.

@udkeudke , can you post a link to the H&R website, I dont know if your kidding or not. Call me ignorant or whatever but im interested if this is real. I searched their site and couldnt find anything in regards to that.

I hope this is better than the last batch of shit you gave me. Produced more wood than Ron Jeremy. I don't want you to yell, "Reco!" anymore. Know what you should yell? "Timber!" Yeah, Mr. Fuckin' wood.

I was hoping to ignore posting in this thread because it has gone full retard but the amount of idiotic information in here is laughable.

First and foremost -- HNEP, the reason why firms are telling you they're done or not hiring is that you are a) a non target and b) saying incredibly stupid things to employers http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/sounding-desperate I understand you want to be contributing to the forum but I have some recommendations for you. 1) Stop making claims and speaking for all of SA recruiting if you have cold called a couple of boutiques that said they weren't hiring 2) Being incorrect is one thing but lying to cover it up is what ultimately got you mocked in this thread. People make mistakes but being unable to admit when you're wrong is what will cause people to lose respect for you 3) Learn to be capable of making basic, logical decisions without consulting this forum with a new thread. Read through the content in here about how to cold email and speak during informational interviews to help you have a better sense of how you should interact with a potential network

As to the question that was brought up itself, there are going to be significant differences of when recruiting and interviews occur based on OCR and cold calling. I can only speak of OCR but currently, firms are hosting networking panels where they explain the firm and whatnot for the next week or two.

As to people having offers or interviews or superdays. Yes. This happens for students that have been networking and have good enough credentials for some BBs to give them a quick phone/on campus interview. I know a few friends that are currently doing this but the actual OCR process does not start till end of November/December/Early January. When I say OCR I mean resume drops through career center websites, on campus rounds, and superdays.

Lastly, HNEP, just from reading your posts in both threads you sounds like a huge tool. I was initially inclined to say mean things about you in this comment but decided not to and am just going to try to push you in the right direction.

My issue, I have stated, I more or less was informing that I have called e-mailed a decent amount of firms, mostly email, and a decent amount of them are done recruiting. Now does this speak for the entire IB community? Obviously not, but I figured it would be a motive for him/her to jump up and get going as soon as possible. As for me being a tool. I'm okay with being condescended on over the internet, does not really bother me, but when I dish a little back, I'm a tool. I just do not understand, maybe my forum etiquette is off.

Aside: I'm not here to argue, but where did I lie?

Agreed ^^. OCR for targets, non-targets, semi-targets has not begun yet and will not begin generally until January.

If you have not started networking yet, you are a bit late to the game but it is definitely better late then never. People that have been networking since the summer have been able to develop channels that have pushed them to interviews or even offers by now.

This thread is making my head hurt. real bad.

A few accelerated processes have started. You are by no means too late to the process as most resume drops have not closed for OCR. Online submissions for most banks will close up this month and interviews will be in January.

If you are just starting to network now, I hope you aren't expecting much out of the process. You might reap some marginal benefit from it, but its too short to build a semi-meaningful relationship that is generally necessary to get a ton of help in the process.

@HNEP: If you carry yourself in person like you do on this forum then you have abssolutely 0% chane of ever setting foot in a Wall Street bank let alone actually working at one.

P.S. When a firm says that they are not hiring in response to a cold email or cold call that is there polite way of telling you to fuck off. I can't believe how fucking dumb they are making nontargets these days. Holy fucking shit.
