How do I deal with this situation?

I'm applying for FT jobs right now, and I've got kind of a dilemma in terms of scheduling. My school takes part in an NYC recruiting day where we apply online to a bunch of participating firms, and if selected, we do our first round interviews for those firms at the same place on a given day. I applied to seven jobs, and I know I have at least four first-round interviews for this day. However, after an interview with an MBB at the closest office, I was invited to a final round at a non-NYC office on the same day.

Obviously, I can't be two places at once. What should I reschedule so that I don't look like a jackass and don't cost myself a great opportunity?

Just tell the non NYC MBB that you have a conflict because you have an previously scheduled activity through your university that you are unable to back out of and see if they have another day you could meet with them. Seems like an easy fix but only if it works out. Good luck.

Regards

Usually they give you the option when scheduling to pick a different day - BCG and McK both did for me, and I have final rounds later this month. But if you already confirmed with them, and now want to change, you will look pretty foolish. If forced to choose, I would take the MBB final round over 4 non-MBB first rounds any day.

Then again, you might be competing against me at this "non-NYC" office, so feel free to stay in NYC!

No, haven't confirmed anything, and they did give me an option to come in during an MBA superday (I'm going for entry-level). I'm going to go for the later date. I'm trying to be realistic, as well...I'm from a non-target, and while there are six alums at the MBB I'm interviewing with, none started before getting an MBA.
