How do I Find a Summer Internship as a Freshman or is it too late?

I'm currently a freshman at NYU Stern and I plan on majoring in finance. I'm taking out a pretty large loan so I want to start interning as soon as possible (preferably this summer). Did I wait to long to begin searching? Im not 100% sure what I want to do but I was thinking about ib or consulting. Also, what is the best way to search for internships? A lot of the stuff I see is listed for sophomores and juniors. One of my professors told me to apply to these anyway. I would prefer if it was paid but anything is better than nothing for me. Also, I am black and I noticed that there a lot of programs/internships for minorities/women/ non-heterosexuals so I plan applying to those. I dont really have a network or anything so is applying online my best bet? Thanks for the help.

Also, if you don't end up getting an internships with a big or well-known firm, then don't worry to much about it. Most freshman don't have an internship at a big firm anyway. If you don't get an internship like that, reach out to local shops, as that will give you experience that you an talk about when you apply for those big internships in sophomore and/or junior year. But as i said before, focus on building a network during these college years, as that is extremely helpful in getting internships, and also for getting jobs upon graduation.
