How do I prepare for PE internship?

Hey WSO!

I've managed to receive a full-time analyst/investment internship over this summer in a boutique PE fund in London focusing on LBO's.

Now, I haven't done any internship in IB or PE before but my resume includes working as a business development intern in one of their portfolio companies (hence why I applied to their summer internship and the fund heard about my impressing performance for one of their growth projects).

Regarding the work itself I'm going to be assigned to all aspects of PE-work - that is both screening companies and evaluating investment opportunities, working with live deals and also working with their current portfolio companies. I'm going to work alongside some investment professionals and partners who's been at Mega Funds before.

I'm going to start there in mid-June and thus my question is:

How can I prepare as much as possible to hit the ground running and ultimately receive a FT offer (maybe after 1-2 years IB)? Both regarding hard skills as Excel, Powerpoint and otherwise but also regarding soft skills (that mean how to be efficient, how to communicate efficiently, how to set and meet their expectations etc.).

Many thanks,
G
