How do you calculate major GPA?

Which classes should I use to calculate my Statistics major GPA?
1. All classes taken in the statistics department (10 stat courses)
2. Courses I chose to use to satisfy the statistics major requirements (4 math prereqs, 3 stat core, 3 stat electives, 3 courses in other technical departments)
3. Something else?

I'd prefer number 2 because I specifically chose courses I did well in to use to satisfy major requirements.

My school does not list major GPA on my transcript. I'm aiming for an internship at a quantitative prop trading firm.

Thanks for the help

Whichever gives you a higher GPA. I used #2.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

If one is much better than the other, differentiate. Sometimes, if one is too embarrassing, you can just leave it out. Otherwise you can just average it and call it major GPA.

I think the normal way to do that would be to have your cumulative (overall) GPA as the highlighted number. If you would like, you could specify the major-specific GPAs where you list the rest of your school information.

Naturally, if one GPA is significantly better than the other, you can choose to feature it.

"You've got to belong to it."
