Exactly what I was doing at this time but I had nothing specific in mind.

But seriously, I do a lot of bill paying, checking up on my stocks/stock research, travel planning/booking, etc during my down time during the day, though we don't have any facetime. There's a lot of productive things you can do during down time at work.

Where do you work?

Doing an internship with low dealflow/high facetime

If you're connected to the share drive, I explore that. I take whatever your LMS version of "courses" are. Part of my yearly "development" goals is to take so many courses to expand my skillset. I work for a F500 company and have to do the "personal development" thing yearly. It's an easy way to zone out and check a box.

Beyond that, I frequently IM my peers, read up on things I am passionate about (tech, computers, crypto), or I get up and walk around. Sometimes I'll stop to chat with someone I haven't spoken to in awhile (on my floor/cube farm), and sometimes I just keep to myself while listening to a podcast. Either way, I get up, look like I'm doing something, and waste some time.

I'll also ask to be invited in meetings to get exposed to projects/positions that I want to be doing one day. It's worked well for me. It's also a great way to network.

Been reading a lot for future jobs/investing books however they are fairly close to my current jobs. I usually follow cryptos anyways constantly on my phone.

facetime? seriously?

grow the balls to tell your boss that you're done with your work for the day, and it's time to get the fuck out.

I usually have stuff to do in the morning and late afternoon, leaving me a 3/4h break in between.

This. Or ask where you can add value. You're signing a death warrant by being a lazy intern who focuses on facetime.

Listen to podcasts/audiobooks

Go for quick (10-15 minute) walks around the block

Browse reddit

Take long dumps and play vidya games on my phone

Download kindle and read books, also there's some free public domain books on the innerweb in txt format

Plan imaginary trips on paper (looks more like you're working when your MD walks by as opposed to browsing kayak)

Currently bored at the office, I'd appreciate any suggestion to keep myself busy, bored of reading/doing finance models and sending networking emails.

there is an office tool to stay in shape called the shakeweight - good for long hours of facetime at the desk
