How do you pronounce "Macquarie"?
I've heard it a few different ways and now that I've read someone mispronounced it at their interview, I'm getting worried for mine.
Any help is appreciated!

Ma-Corey
like "ya mama" but only with the "ma" + "corey"
I called their office numerous times simply to get the pronounciation right. I'm pretty sure its mac - cworey, with the ma sounding like mama as opticalcharge pointed out.
mah-kwa-re
and i'm gonna make sure that this question gets asked. If you're wrong, you've got no shot
It's actually MACK-worry. With the emphasis on the first syllable.
i worked with some people who worked there and they pronounced it muh-KWA-ree
I couldn't spell it emphatically, but that is it.
Mind you, I'm basing this from the reporters on the Bloomberg channel.
all i remember about the land down under is that the aussie's in training really knew how to party it up!
Reminds me of an epic Credit Suisse ("Swiss" or "Swees") battle.....
was it on this forum on in the office?
isn't the last s silent?
lol yeah...i used to work there and it took a while to get used to saying "Credit Swees"
Lol reminds me of the Moelis pronunciation thread
may-cue-airy, with the same dactylic tetrameter metrical foot as "actuary"
trust me:)
It's Swees and mah-kwawr-ee. They internally refer to themselves as Mac-Bank
It's actually pronounced exactly like Mark McGwire's last name. Don't listen to these guys.
In the office. It's "Swees" but even CNBC anchors often say "Swiss"
CNBC is hardly the definitive source on French pronounciation.
Mc Quarry
I was just there speaking with some associates, and as they kept mentioning the firm, I made sure to take note. They all pronounced it like this:
"Muh-Qwer-ree"
It rolls off the tongue like you're Scottish or something, even though they are Australian...
It's pronounced
YOU-DUMM-ASS
