How does a Political Science Major from a Non-Target and No Experience go about job searching?

Title says it all. Political Science major with double minor, 3.7/4.0. No investment experience, internships were policy related, not investment related. Want to become a trader one day. In your chimp opinions, what do I do from here? Internship? Non-bulge bracket? Ops? Shoot for front office? Grad school- MBA or finance or econ?

Calling me an idealistic retard won't help, just give a peasant chimp some advice.

I did almost exactly this. IR degree, not Poli Sci, but close enough. Double major with Econ. Shittier GPA, too.

I moved abroad after UG (Asia), and found a job at a microfinance start-up. That flopped pretty quickly, and I talked my way into a job (as a local hire) at a Big 4, originally doing research / writing white papers. Managed to transition to Corp Finance there. Spent ~4 years in Big 4, then went to a top b school. BB IB post b school.

It's possible.

Thanks for the reply; I'm sorry that I did not see it earlier. I sort of stopped looking on here because no one would respond.

That's awesome. I'm glad there is some hope for me. Would going into ops be ok in trying to get a trader position? How did you negotiate your way into corporate finance?
