How important does the validity of previous internship experience matter to vetting process?

My employer initiated the vetting process by Carco in May for all summer interns. One of my past internships is a remote and informal one (I spent some money to get that internship through a third-party, one employer in that company was my supervisor and we contacted by email and phone). However, the HR department of that company does not have formal record of mine. When Carco called my supervisor for the first time, she said she didn’t remember me (she said she probably forgot my name). Then Carco called the department of the company and said there is no formal record of mine. Caro asked me to provide more information and will call my supervisor again. This time I reminded my supervisor to keep an eye on the incoming call and she agreed.
However, my concern is that she may not admit because the informal internship may be an underground deal, even though that company does have many informal and remote interns to be honest to save costs. I wonder if the worst scenario happens--she did not admit I worked for her, how would that affect my vetting process? Is it possible that I may not be able to get on board because of this issue? What should I do now?
