How is Pitzer College considered in Wall Street?
I'm a freshman at this school. I love the class, and we share on-campus recruiting with the other Claremont Colleges. But I see very few alum in Wall Street, and I'm wondering if I have a chance for big firms in Wall Street (esp. those have H1B sponsorship since I'm an international student as well).
Also attend an elite liberal art schools. There are def opportunities on the street as long as you network hard.
However, I am not sure how you'll do because you will require sponsorship. Only a handful of firms help on that end. It sucks to say but its better be upfront and honest then kicking the can down the road.
Hi there. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if my school is considered elite since it's ranked 36th on US News. But thank you for your understanding and direct feedback!
Don't pay attention to that. Pitzer is a really good institution and is considered elite in many circles. Like I said use their alumni and network hard.
There is a large consortium of 5C alums in banking - does not matter which college you go to, they will all treat you as if you went to the same school. Besides that I would highly recommend applying for the RDS program at CMC and joining some of the finance oriented clubs. Trust me, work hard, be strategic, and you have nothing to worry about!
Not as strong as Williams/Amherst/Bowdoin/Midd in terms of Wall Street placement but still considered a good school. Unfortunately a non-target.
What are key differences in recruiting between a target and a non-target? From what I understand, my school' Handshake's on-campus interviews tab:
And should I concern about difference in treatment between Pitzer and Pomona/CMC? Thanks for taking your time!
With that small of an opportunity set, Pitzer is def a non-target. I go to one of the top 5 LACs and we have all BB banks, MF PE like Blackstone, and top AM like Fidelity/Wellington posted on Handshake. On-campus recruiting pre-covid was a different story though. The good thing about these tight communities is that you can lean on your alumni network very hard. Don't give up!
Do you go to a school in the Northeast, since Pitzer shares Handshake with Pomona and the rest of the Claremont Colleges. May I also PM you about Handshake in a deeper analysis? Thanks!
