How is the hedge fund job market in 2020?

I am currently on the sell-side at a BB working in ER. I have 4 years experience in a decent sector (lots of client interest, but not the largest market cap). I am pretty happy with comp, like my senior, etc. I would like to give the buyside a go, but finding an open seat has been pretty challenging. I have been going through the typical avenues (recruiters, linkedin, clients, etc.), but have not had any luck.

Is anyone else having a difficult time finding open seats (not even getting intro interviews) or is it just me?
