How long did it take you to really understand "finance" and is it really that hard

You guys all mention a monkey could do the work of an I Banker, is it really that easy? Currently a student in college studying technicals and prepping for interviews and I feel like there's just so much you have to know. How long did it take for you to really grasp the concepts and does it get any easier as you get your first job?
