How long should freshman internship be?
I fortunately have a connection which will allow me to intern at a HF for freshman summer.
Would like 5 weeks be too short? If yes, around how long should I ask to be interning for?
I want to enjoy the summer, but if it would be very beneficial to stay for a longer time (2 months? more?) then I'm willing to do it.
Thank you!
if it's during the summer, 10-12 weeks. If it's during the school year, it's generally an internship per semester.
5 weeks is too short. You won't have enough time to really get comfortable with the work and make strong bonds with your colleagues. I'll echo what @CREboyzz" said above, target 10-12 weeks.
Does 10-12 look much better on a resumé than like 6-8?
Also, how can the bonds with colleagues work for me in the future? Will they benefit me even if I don't want to work there?
For more context, my brother works at this fund rn (it's small).
Sorry if I sound stupid. I'm just not familiar with the industry.
Try to do at least 8 weeks so you can list it based on months on your resume.
If I worked mid-May through like first week of July, could I list as May-July?
I worked for 13 weeks last summer (my freshman summer) and I found that I was learning more each week because I had a larger foundation. Also I gained credibility with the guys I was working with and they were trusting me with more responsibility. Therefore I got more intresting things to put on the resume
Duration of typical summer internships for freshmen? (Originally Posted: 09/14/2010)
Just wondering, how long does a typical wealth management internship last for a freshmen during the summer?
June - August? June - September?
Specifically for the case of freshmen, is there a contract that one must sign when he / she takes the internship or do they just go straight to work?
