How much does GPA matter after your first job?
Let's say that you have 1 to 2 years of experience in an S&T position. How much does GPA matter in the following scenarios:
- promotion within same desk/team,
- promotion in another desk/team within the same firm,
- lateral over to another firm in same level or promoted position,
- switching to buy side AM/hedge fund position
Is GPA even considered in any of these things and will it be looked negatively upon for one to have a low 3 GPA despite good performance at work? Would it help to get CFA or do a MSF? Would an MSF take somebody with a low 3 GPA?
