How much does pedigree impact a career in CRE?

mulling over leaving a prominent BB CRE investment team for an unknown developer for a ~20% base bump, ~10-30% better expected bonus overall, comparable title, way more responsibility and exposure to different asset classes. I have four years of experience in REPE including 18 months at my current firm, I’d stay longer but management is unbearably abusive, and I’ve been more or less siloed into one asset class.

Pedigree will help get you in the door. Once you're there, it's up to you.

I've seen some firms specifically request people with IB or Consulting backgrounds, so it could help you with those, but plenty of others don't care about that whatsoever, so you're never know.
