How much for Chinese internship?

I'm starting a management consulting internship in a boutique firm in Beijing this november...

The firm is asking me to state an expected salary for the internship... what should I say?

also, I'm going to be in china for about 3 months... should I try out other internships or just stick to this one? (tbh this MC firm sounds a bit iffy)
i don't mind the location.

Thanks in advance monkeys!

I interned in Shanghai last summer, and as far as I'm aware, the standard Chinese intern pay scale was 100 RMB a day - that's what I made, and what a friend at a different company made. It's not much, but hopefully helps you calculate our your expected salary? Though if you're coming from the US or abroad, maybe you can negotiate.

Interned in Beijing at a financial firm last year. Opportunity turned into a full time offer beginning of this year. Boutique finance advisory firm, intern pay 12,000 RMB per month. Full time pay (ex bonus, profit sharing, health insurance benefits) 35,000 RMB a month, or around US $65,000 annualized. I'm American with good educational background, startup and buy-side experience as well as advanced Chinese language skills. Many Chinese firms, even those opened and run by Americans, do not pay interns in China. A fair intern salary is $1,800 - $2,000 USD per month. It's not much, but it's enough to rent an apartment and live on in both Beijing and Shanghai, at least until you get a full time offer. Internship periods last from one month to six months and may not lead to full time offers. Any further questions, feel free to reach out to me with your personal contact information and I'd be happy to chat. If you're in Beijing, we can even meet up if you like.
