How old and how many suits?
Trying to figure out how many suits I should own? The ones I have now are shit, so looking to buy some new ones.
I'm 24 and own three suits.
They're all Joseph A Bank though so they're kind of shitty, kind of bulky...

I'd say it depends on how often you need to wear a full suit, and whether your days are usually business casual or business formal. If you've successfully used 3 (or less) and don't want to buy/have more for any other reasons, then 3 is probably a good number. If you'd prefer to rotate more etc, buy more. If you haven't already got a place in mind and don't want to spend too much, check out Charles Tyrwhitt and Suit Supply. Both places that get good reviews on WSO- I personally just bought a bunch of stuff from CT (11 shirts, 2 suits because I already own a couple others) and I love it- the shirts fit perfectly, and the suits will also fit as well (and look great) when I pick them up after tailoring. There is also a 15% off coupon for their online store on retailmenot.com- I'm not the kind of person who would buy suits online, but called them and they said I could buy online at the discount and they would happily exchange sizes etc in-store if necessary (at the same price). Very satisfied overall.
Optimal # of suits = (Age / 4) * 1.5 [ Rounded to the nearest whole number, obviously.]
... I need 7 suits?
I was being facetious.
2-3
Just get your suits tailored. While I think JAB is kind of shitty, I don't think anything else in that price range is going to be much better (at least not so much better than just tailoring what you have).
Focus on accessories. Make sure your shirt is crisp and fits well. Get some nice shoes and a belt. Nice tie.
n00b question, but I assume it's possible to get my current suits tailored right? Or is that not usually possible? I have lost some weight since I bought them, so I assume that accounts for some of the bulkiness...
Yeah get your current suits tailored- but keep in mind if you're looking in the low price range anyway, it may just be easier/smarter to get new suits that need minimal tailoring at online black Friday/cyber Monday sales if they're super cheap, and then have them tailored just a little bit. It can be quite expensive to extensively tailor a suit.
