How or where? - Interested in value investing
Hi!..I am new here.
I am seriously interested in HF (especially, Value Investing).
I am from Germany and studying Economics, so my university is completely unknown in the US. I think that it is almost impossible to work straight in the US after my Bachelor Degree, because I cannot compete with (under)graduates from IVY League or well known schools in the US.
I have always tried to network bankers or Asset Managers to get an internship and to show my passion, because I am seriously interested in analysing markets and it makes lots of fun.
When networking by visiting several websites, I was really disappointed, because nobody has been willing to help me or to give me tipps. They have always ignored me and my messages.
One day, I found someone who knew lots of investment bankers and asset managers. He said that he could help me and he told me that their friends have high positions like Executive Directors sothat they can help me easily.
I was really happy and I was ready to go to Frankfurt for extra to meet them although I had no enough time. When I met them, I was really devasted because they were not any executive directors or something. They have worked just for two years and they could not help me. And I had the feeling that they didn´t really want to help me. So he lied.
I thought I had a great opportunity to keep connections to bankers from Deutsche Bank and Union Investment, but as I said, that was just a dumb situation and experience.
Our university is strong in Economics, but there are not any career centers, sothat it is a huge problem in our faculty.
Is it really difficult to network someone and to find someone who is willing to help another student?..
I don´t know what to do.. I always try to network and to ask my friends whether they know some bankers. But In my area, there is noone who can help me.
What do you think where and how can I network someone who is willing to help me?..
I am very thankful for your tipps.
P.S. I always try to find someone and I never give up. I hope that I achieve my goal one day.
I would use linkedin...and look up bankers in offices that you would like to work at...and reach out to them. Even meeting with 1st year or 2nd year analysts is good. They can pass your resume along, if you make a good first impression.
