How Post-Modernism is destroying the West.

We live in an existence that seems as if we live in two different universes. While not physically true in a metaphysical sense this is extremely true. Out of the enlightenment period of history the human race developed what came to be know as modernism or modern philosophy where facts and reason ruled the day. Fast forward several hundred years and we now see groups of people who follow a school of thought known as post-modernism which is built on the foundation that the modern world is built upon oppression rather than advancement.

This is a really interesting analysis of what post-modernism is and how its advocates operate.

Since literature is a hobby of mine, I've looked into stuff like "historical fiction or fictional history" as well as "magical realism." The point being that there is no one view of history, and certainly no one truth about a history. What one person perceives as history may seem a lie to others, or more properly said, only one interpretation among many of the significance of events on the people affected by them. Postmodern or not, a lie is a lie. Even postmodernists must assemble, weigh, and attribute value to evidence, which are facts (e.g., you cannot say that a person did not say something when, if fact, he/she did; or the date that something happened). Those facts affect a postmodernist's argument about one of the possible meanings of an event/history/story. Saying that a postmodernist attitude toward reality is that there is no such thing is simply wrong. It would be better to say that postmodernism acknowledges that attitudes toward events change over time and are judged within the current culture, which is why Trump supporters see a different reality (influenced by the media that amplifies the culture in which they make judgments). But their disdain for facts indicates that their reality is very subjective and influenced overwhelmingly by a need to belong to the social group that lives within that culture.

It does so by deteriorating the important various meta narrative's of Western Civilization. Cultural Marxism is the more dangerous but not related directly to the post modernists. Post modernism opens the door for the cultural Marxists. These are broad stroke of course. It's a very interesting topic though.

I'm reminded of that Philadelphia Inquirer article, "Paying the price for breakdown of the country's bourgeois culture". I recommend reading it, if you haven't. Basically, the authors argue that we've moved away from simple tried and true values such as being married before having children toward "multicultural grievance polemics". In short they see bourgeois culture as the most proven way of preparing people to function in a modern economy.

Predictably, there was an absolute shit storm after this article was published, and also predictably, the criticism was a microcosm of exactly the culture the article is saying our society ought to turn away from.

Yes, post-modernist thought and the liberal drivel that comes with it is the biggest threat to the West's global cultural, economic, military and political hegemony. It is eroding our competitiveness, dividing our society, wasting our resources

Some of our brightest (in terms of raw intellectual horsepower) students are being corrupted by it and wasting their lives trying to change our society into some unattainable egalitarian utopia. They aren't innovating, they aren't doing anything productive. In that pursuit, they're spewing hatred, trying to tear down social norms and institutional structures that help keep order, foster productivity and provide societal continuity. They are so obsessed by the desire to tear down what they see as inequitable that they don't have a real workable replacement. They are not much better than pure anarchists.

The thought more generally limits our ability to think pragmatically and limits our ability to legislative policy in a realist world. It puts at a disadvantage to societies not so burdened by high-minded social and ethical constructs, like for instance China, which is a highly pragmatic regime unencumbered by concern for post-modern liberal values.

Over time, we will be less able to compete, less able to fight, less able to do anything. We will be divided between the naive post-modernist sucks on our society who don't produce and want to use the fruit of other people's labor to drive towards their ridiculous utopia, and the regular productive members of society. Look at our current ideological landscape; that's already happening.

Just my 2 cents.

This is something I think about every so often. What would you suggest we do in order to become more competitive globally? There is still a lot this country has to offer and a vastness of resources at our disposal that it's really sad to see something like it go to waste.

MEAT and DAIRY products are DESTROYING the West. They're everywhere on the street and they've INFILTRATED our homes - they're even INSIDE your girlfriend or wife. SHAMEFUL!

So I am a peanut brain because I told you no one gives a fuck about your forced altruism? Seems amazingly fitting that the best insult you can come up with is peanut brain. This is the real world son, we measure winners and losers with bank accounts.

The proclaimed goal of Post-modernism is indeed to destroy the Western ''capitalist'' society so nothing new. It's pretty important to note that it's simply an application of the ''Long march through the Institutions'' which was a Marxist idea of the period between the wars. This largely succeeded as the 68s generation has become the current elite and is extremely fond of this kind of ideas.

It's also nothing different than the iconoclast ''Cultural Revolution'' tried in China after the failure of economic socialism in the form of the ''Great Leap Forward'' which ended in the usual mass starvation. The failure of economic socialism was blamed on the traditional Chinese culture, and the point of the Cultural Revolution was to remove from the people those beliefs that were deemed incompatible with the glorious communist utopia. This also included gender equity policies. I recall reading on the Financial Times a few months ago, the author actually suggested we implemented the same gender policies of Maoist China to solve the gender gap. It's unbelievable but it also shows that these people are legitimately out of touch with reality and have been brainwashed to the point they can no longer make use of reason.

The race and sexuality theories are often even worse. This is an editorial published on a prominent scientific paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-07238-8

So it's no longer just social sciences, they are infecting natural sciences as well and that's as dangerous as it can be. The damage to education and university in general in this case can be beyond repair.

Oh its easy to repair. Considering these deadbeat losers don't amount to anything other than political hacks and university professors. The successful among us just need to stop giving these idiots money, when your university calls asking for donations ask them if their administration supports any of this nonsense. If they say yes, tell them you have no money for them. While they all may believe they are revolutionaries, they are really just upper middle class larpers. Take away their lattes and they will wise up quick. The productive society has just allowed them to graize for too long.

I agree entirely, unfortunately, it's not happening. The student loans system is partly responsible for propping up insane university fees, which are used to fund this kind of crap. Then you have it spreading in tech companies and HR departments. Dems made it their religions as well. I'm quite pessimistic about the future, but I hope you are right.
