How REAL BILLIONAIRES and FINANCE GURUS DRESS
Was wondering if the people on this site are all poseurs or really have no clue how those with access to the high life dress. I see talks of loafers and Patek Phillipes on this site. That's all fine if that's what you like - I'm nobody to tell you that. But I do wonder about the legitimatacy of the posts on this forum from time to time when you see the superficial crap they talk about like Tod's loafers. Or maybe they're trolls ?
- Oleg Deripaska - Chairman of RUSAL (Russia's answer to Alcoa) and Vladimir Putin's close associate. Patek Phillipe you say ?

Laugh all you want at their watches and dress sense. Each guy is worth more than $5 billion, god knows how bored one must be of money when you have a $60 million Manhattan penthouse, own an entire sector of the economy but have a $10 watch to mock people wearing watches more expensive than yours.
It's true that for some people no amount of money can buy them class.
What people don't seem to appreciate is that these men have won the game. They don't need to compete for anything but power to stroke their egos. Quite frankly, it would be counterproductive for them to dress too well. Loafers, mom jeans, and sweaters are disarming & deceptive at that level. You think Warren Buffet or Bill Gates are nice guys? If they're having a conversation with anyone, it's probably a deep power play with ulterior agendas. They're better off looking like bumpkins to disarm opponents.
Also, most of these guys haven't spent time developing the aesthetic sensibilities or physiques to look stylish anyway. They can pay someone, but it sends the wrong signal to be gucci'd down to the socks. Men like that generate $100k/hr in their sleep. They can literally build self sustaining island village resorts stocked with hot virgins who will worship them. Why would they care what a pleib MD thinks of their appearance? He's the one that needs their business to pay alimony and buy the new BMW i8.
No, we DO appreciate that. But the luxury clothing business is booming, so obviously a lot of very wealthy people appreciate that style/fashion is more than just about business. Just because Bill Gates never developed any fashion sense doesn't mean that his shitty way of dressing is the norm among the wealthy.
HazelJ is on point here.
I'd imagine these people dress like crap or try not to look rich just so they can mock people that look richer than them.
They're just waiting to be messed with.
Person A: Hey XYZ why is your watch so crappy ? Look at my Rolex Submariner !
Person B: Well, after I bought my $60 million manhattan penthouse after becoming Chairman of the Board of a Fortune 500 company of which I own 56%, I decided I didn't have to demonstrate anything to plebs like you.
Person A: speechless
Some people don't care about watches to begin with. In the end, if you don't appreciate what goes into higher-end watches a watch that costs $50 and one that costs $50,000 still provides the same function.
Its all good. Sometimes you just want to wear chill, comfortable clothes.
I think anyone who wears nice cars, drives nice cars, or wears Swiss watches purely because of what other people may think of them is leading a very sad life and missing the point of these items entirely.
SB - I agree completely.
It is a sad life chasing tail, but it the only life I know. I suppose I could invest more time building a social circle, developing a social media presence, doubling down on woodford and creatine to get dese bitches, but I find it's much easier if I just wear a nice car.
Only a bad mofo can pull off wearing a car.
Dudes who chase girls who are exclusively impressed by Rolexes and bottle service get what they deserve.
Hope you get checked for STDs often...
Being well-groomed, fit, and presentable, are obviously important, but I've always believed that spending a lot of money on clothes is an inefficient use of one's money. Clothes are a rapidly depreciating asset, and beyond a certain point, it becomes a pain in the ass to figure out what you should wear on a daily basis. Don't be a slob, but keep it simple.
