Recently, I am doing an M&A analysis on the LVMH / Tiffany acquisition. While going through SEC filings, IR press releases etc. some questions about the deal arose which I think could be helpful for myself to start networking with people from the firms who are advising LMVH and Tiffany & Co. However, I am not really sure how I should approach the right people (the content of my message) and if they are even allowed to talk about it to randoms even if they are not directly associated with the transaction.
Should I contact alumni from my university who are working at these firms and dm them with my questions on my analysis? (I go to a target uni in Europe) or should I first ask for their e-mails so I can send them the questions? I'd personally prefer the second because a message loaded with tons of questions would feel intrusive.
To those who are now in IB: What kind of message would not be too intrusive so that you would actually take your time and respond?
I might have answered my questions myself, but I still want to hear your suggestions.
