How to approach this particular boutique?

Hi WSO,

I am currently a sophomore studying finance at a non-target interested in doing IB. I have been looking for internship opportunities with local boutique banks, and I came across a boutique that interests me. I’m not sure if they hire summer analysts; however, they do have a career page where analysts/associates can apply for FT.
Thus, I was wondering if you guys would suggest:
1. Applying through the email provided on the careers page, but state that I’m interested in a summer analyst role
2. Email the MD and ask about internship opportunities (I already emailed him before for an informational interview but got no response)

Thank for any insight you guys can provide!

Email the MD. If you have a resume, attach it; if not, no worries. Say something like (please do change this up a bit):

"Hello Mark the MD,

I am Pmblue117 and a sophomore at Harvard majoring in economics. I am very interested in pursuing a career in investment banking and was wondering if your firm is looking for any interns for this summer. Hope to hear back soon. Thanks for the time.

Best,

Pmblue117"

Thanks a lot for the advice! However, I already emailed the MD like 2 months ago asking if we could chat for a little bit but got no response (I honestly forgot to follow up on that email). Do you still think I should try to email him about internship opportunities? Just thought it might sound unusual considering I initially emailed him to talk, and now I'm asking for an internship. Thanks again!
