How to break into Growth Equity out of undergrad?
I'm very interested in joining a top growth equity firm full time upon graduation (Insight, Summit, TA, GA, Vista, etc...). I struck out at the top firms SA positions (junior) but still hoping to go through ft recruiting. What is the best route to take for my junior summer to give myself the best chance at being qualified/getting interviews at top firms-> growth equity at smaller firm/IB/or private equity or even joining an established startup? Going through the early stages of the interview process for each but would like to know which one would give me the best shot.
I spent my sophomore summer at early stage vc so would like to get a position where I could do something more finance heavy.
Any advice would be great!
following!
what kinds of roles at established startups are you thinking? and it seems like most IB/PE are done for summer hiring
I have the opportunity to work with a portflio company in an operations position from the VC who's going through Series B funding. PE position would not be through a standard recruiting process and have started the process through warm intros
Didn’t even notice you listed smaller GE as an option. That would be by far the best, especially if you already have an in already.
IB/PE would be best, startup (established and growing, especially if you are in some strategy esque role) would also be good. Big tech is also an option. Also networking is very important and generally looked upon favorably (hustle, etc) in growth equity as it is a big part of the job itself.
Ok makes sense! Do you think having a position with heavier financial experience (PE/IB) be more worthwhile or working another year at an early staged vc? Could also try to see if I can get warm intros to smaller GE firms if that is a better option
VC/other GE is the best option if you can.
Yeah VC/GE is best, didn’t see that you listed it as an option.
what did you end up doing?
