How to find international bankers?
So I'm an international freshman at a non-target (lol) and I'm aware the odds are incredibly stacked against me.
I know I'm potentially too early to begin networking, but I'm trying to find other international students who have gone on to secure IB placements. I have found some Indian and Chinese bankers via linkedin. However, I've not been able to find any British or Portuguese bankers. I've tried using h1b databases to find the job role, and then searching linkedin for job role, location and company but I've not had any luck.
Is there an easier way to find these internationals? I know that I shouldn't limit my approach to just countries that I'm from. However, I thought it could be very beneficial to find some British & Portuguese bankers in IB.
Sorry if I come across as naiive and thanks in advance!

Current International Junior at a Non Target. I was able to get a spot at a BB for SA’22 and while it was hard, I got 3 supers (2 MMs that sponsor + 1 BB and converted all of them). I’m ind/Chinese and honestly that helps a lot as most internationals I’ve networked with have been of the same background. If you are able to find your schools limited alum base or non targets at your groups of interest, it’s possible to get a position.
Would it be alright if you pmed as I have some questions? It’s fine if not.
LinkedIn is your best bet. Try finding people who did UG abroad, speak a foreign language, and then studied/worked in the US.
Rarely do people study from Day 1 in the US because of tuition/costs or because they still want to be near their home region. But that also happens.
The other way is to look for MBA grads who came from another country and then stayed in the US.
You will find some that are on L or E instead of H1b.
But, what exactly do you need from them? Learn the process of handling the visa process? Finding the best teams or groups that will sponsor?
there was the PERM database somewhere which had personal data redacted, but the lawyers were on there and rough timelines. And which specialty occupation they had, etc
Thanks for such a detailed response! Truthfully, I thought I’d be more successful in networking with internationals from my country, compared to someone I have no connection with.
