How to get into the industry
I'm about to graduate as an Engineer with 3.6 at the end of this year, and did not have an SA position. My resume has finance related things, and I will be applying to FT positions in strategy consulting. However, I really want a finance position (either trading or banking).
I know I won't get selected for interviews for FT analyst positions at BBs. I also can't apply to elite boutiques because they specifically require finance classes.
What is the best way of getting an analyst role at either BB or MM (not smaller boutiques)? Should I get a masters at vanderbilt/lse?
Get a boob job and start acting legally blond. THAT'll make you stand out.
On a side note, why do you want to do finance when you haven't taken core classes? (Not a rhetorical question)
I started doing internships at the end of high school, but didn't really realized I wanted to go into finance till the middle of college. I learned about finance through trading on my own, clubs, training program outside of college etc.
I admit I don't know 100% the details of what the job will consist of, but I know clearly what Analysts do, and where it will lead
apply for smaller boutiques and network.
If a bank needs someone, they would love to have someone with exp to come in as a first year.
