How to increase my chances for diversity conferences?
I have applied to a couple diversity conferences in the past, but had no luck. I am about to fill out the application for two more and wanted to know if there is anything I should add that can increase my chances.
I know these conferences target underrepresented candidates, including female, Black, Hispanic/Latino and Native American students, so is it even worth applying? A little bit about myself, I am a first generation college student and my parents are from Pakistan. I went to an inner city high school in Chicago and live in a low income household.
Well, to get invited to diversity conferences it would help to be the target diversity group they are looking for. Being an Asian man looking for a diversity conference spot in finance probably isn't going to pan out.
The application process isn't like college apps either, being first gen college student or from a low income household isn't going to appear anywhere on the application, it isn't what they are looking for.
TL; DR if you are a straight white or Asian man applying to a diversity conference at a bank, you are gonna have a bad time.
Thanks for the reply
