How to interpret this?
I recently went through a superday (8-9rounds in a row) after having an informal interview w/ an alumn. However, it has been almost a week after the superday (for a full time position) and I still haven't heard back. The worse thing is, when I inquired the progress of their hiring decision, my Alumn (ED at the team), who had been very helpful/responsive previously and gave me very positive feedback on the superday, now does not reply my email. Honestly, I feel that I did very well at the superday and at least half of the interviewers expressed very good impression of me, and I was confirmed by the alumn's feedback at the end. How should I interpret what is happening now? Thanks.
You might have been put on the waiting list. Honestly, just wait. There is nothing you can do right now.
Or you could call HR and ask if they have made a decision
Also just a more positive thought, it is the 4th of July week. A lot of people from my office are out this week, so maybe he/she's on vacation or something?
I didn't think about that. Maybe they just need more time. It won't hurt if OP just calls HR.
thank you guys for these very quick response! Yes, I was also thinking that they might have put me on the wait list and wanted to check w/ other people. Unfortunately, the ED Alumn is the only contact person previously. The interview invitation was also from him given this is an off-cycle opportunity. That said, I do collected a few name cards from the interviewers during the superday. Do you think I should approach other interviewers since my alumn is not responding? A downside here I've been concerned about is that it is a very small team with flat hierarchy, so I might appear to be too aggressive and impatient. And I don't know if that will help either since decision could have been made long ago.
Also, another question is how long after the interview, if I still do not hear back, is considered a ding?
Thanks again. It has been very painful waiting after a superday, especially they kind of raised your expectation...
