How to leverage an offer?

I am a senior at Stern, and got a job where I'll be connecting PE funds in New York to European & Arab wealth funds. The owner of this small company has connections with a number of royal families. The business is basically market making between the two, and my role is to close deals on the phone with CEOs to bring term sheets for investments of 100m-1B. We will be targeting funds around the 1-10B mark.

Now, my goal is to work in the PE industry after college. Due to a highly irregular college experience and hard circumstances with family, my grades are shit, but I have a lot to show for my time outside of my GPA.

This seems like an ideal role to network, as I'll get a lot of face (zoom) time with CEOs of firms I'd love to work at, and ideally I will bring some of these companies in excess of 100m AUM.

My question is this: how can I best convert this experience into a job? Keep in mind I do not have that much experience doing the typical target school networking, since I did not have a typical experience.

Should I send these CEOs a message a month later saying "hey, looking for a job can you hook me up?" Should I ask them for another contact within the company? Should I wait till a deal is closed or ask when it is nearly closed? Will this experience dealing with the firm be substantive in a hiring process, or will they not care? Basically any advice is welcome.

This probably isn't the answer you want to hear, but I think your best chances would be to jump to the IR team at a fund after1-2 years experience.  It's going to be hard for kids with strong academic backgrounds and banking jobs to go those jobs, so it will be even harder for you.  If you can break into the IR team at a fund you'll have great internal connections and can try to make the internal jump to the deal team, or go back to b-school and try to break back into one of the deal teams after that since you should have solid connections.
