How to move ahead from the present stage of my career?

Hi All,

I am from Kolkata India. I had started my career in one of the big four situated at Bangalore as an offshore audit associate and then I joined in another big 4 offshore company in the same role after 2.5 years of experience in my previous company. Presently I have shifted my self to another job role (after playing audit associate role for 1.5 years in present company) i.e. handling independence compliance of the company which is entirely company's internal thing and I do not deal with any client. It is my 2nd year handling the independence compliance and my promotion this year is also due.

After joining Independence, I completely understand that this is not at all what I wanted to do and is really not attracting me. Even if I get promotion I don't know what knowledge I am getting from this job and where my career is moving towards. I am a simple B.Com (Commerce) graduate and MBA Finance, having good working experience in excel and I also have good accounting knowledge with me. I want to involve myself in an specefic area of Finance from where I can get some real adequate knowledge and want to gain knowledge on financial software.

Please guide me what should I do at this stage to shift laterally in order to get some interesting job for myself.
