Hi OP, I can address questions 1 & 2:

  1. You're fairly early in your career and that's a huge advantage. The technical skills you are building in your role like modeling, due diligence, and to some extent documentation, will be useful when interviewing / on the job in GE, so just be open with them and explain the skills you have and why you are looking to move into GE. On the Why - your story above would work, just pay attention to the growth thesis in the deals you have worked on and be able to cite these examples in your interviews.

  2. They hire both

Also, can I PM you a quick question?

Sure mate - you'll see a notification on the top right hand corner of your page above the mail icon, just click on it to access your inbox.

To your question - it's similar timeline to other roles, i.e. depends if you're an experienced hire or recent grad (undergrad for analyst / MBA for assoc). With your current experience you can pursue both routes, I'd reach out to recruiters and start getting on their radar when you're ready for interviews.
