With thousands of stocks to choose from, is there any path to follow to have a great risk/return balance ? I was planning to invest 50% of my portolofio into ''safer'' stocks with low risk and great dividends and the other 50% into more risky stocks thanks

If you are really looking in to investing money rather than trading it, I advise you to use fundamental analysis and try to find that gold middle in the stock that has potential to growth, and still has a decent P/E ratio. American economy for example should give you a nice return if you will invest in the same (not shitty) stock every month, either it goes down or it grows you still invest same amount of money every month and at the end you should end up with a decent profit. Of course different situations can occur [i.e crisis, bankruptcy) but that is the risk everyone is taking. Good luck.
