How To Sell Futures
A while back, several of you asked me about this book in reference to a good primer on the commodities market. I remarked that it was out of print, had actually been banned by the NFA or the CFTC (I don't remember which), and that I left my copy in storage when I moved to France.
Lo and behold, I was wrong about the last part. While cleaning out our guest room, my wife ran across the book today, and it is pictured here. It was not published by the CBOT like I thought I remembered, but by the Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange in 1993.
I did a quick search on Amazon and found 2 used copies of it for sale here:
Not only is it a great primer on commodities, it's also obviously a collector's item.
Kinda like your old Uncle Eddie.
On this website it says you can download it for free. Is it the same book? Just scroll down and click on the How to Sell Futures link

Is this website the actual book or a marketing ploy?
Yeah, that's it. I only went over them briefly, but the changes that were made to satisfy the regulators were fairly minor.
Most of what was taken out was the crass, high-pressure sales stuff (that worked like a champ, by the way).
Also missing, and unfortunately quite a bit more valuable, is the section of specific advice from brokers and CTAs around the country on what works and what doesn't. I don't understand the regulators' particular objections to this section of the book, because it was both compliant and very helpful.
But there you have it.
Do you have any thoughts on How to Trade Futures? It is written by the same guy and is available on his website for $20.

I haven't read How To Trade Futures, so I really can't say. Not to take anything away from John Walsh, because he's a good writer and knows his stuff, but the most valuable insights in How To Sell Futures came from his interviews with other traders.
On the other hand, for $20 it's probably well worth it.
Now that I've looked at the link, I see that it will probably be very similar to his earlier stuff, which means it will be very worthwhile.
Take a chance on it and let us know how it is.
