How Will Firms/Colleges/Anyone Actually Verify COVID-19 Vaccination?

I got COVID-19 twice so far and just received my first vaccination dose (Pfizer), despite not really wanting to and being against it for quite some time. I think after doing my research and forming MY OWN OPINION, it really isn't necessary for a healthy 20-year old to receive a vaccination just because a majority of people say you should. But that is neither here nor there, if you get the vaccination I don't care regardless (considering I just got my first dose).

I was wondering how firms and colleges specifically will actually verify you received both COVID-19 vaccination doses as opposed to say only one, and then writing down you got the second one as well. I have the antibodies plus the first vaccination (feel pretty crappy btw) so I'm not really interested in receiving the second dose. Can they really verify anything other than actually calling the place I went (and would they actually do that / will that place give away that information?).

Before I get MS for this, I'm not anti-vax, I'd just rather not get the second dose when I've already received the first one and have antibodies. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Our firm realized they won't be able to confirm any paperwork on site anyway and won't enforce vaccinations. We don't have the infrastructure or workforce to handle anything like this. They told staff if they believe they need the vaccine, they can take it. There is encouragement to get vaccinated, but no mandatory thing at all.

No clue how "open" environments like colleges will enforce this, guess they can't.

Interesting. Was your lot number the same given you went to the same location? I'm just confused why people wouldn't forge the information and upload it? I'm not sure how schools and work can legally confirm you got the vaccine other than the actual piece of paper. As far as I know, there isn't an actual database that says "this individual got 0 dose shots" versus "this individual got both doses". Does that make sense?

I just checked and the lot numbers are different although I did go to the same location. For each dose I had to submit a physical consent form to my location which was kept by the people there. It is possible that an employer could call the location on my card and ask if they have record of me taking the shot which would be verified through the forms. I’m pretty sure the forms are stored somewhere on site because that’s where you agree that you understand you can’t sue if anything happens.

They can't and most likely won't. It's already pretty obvious looking at places like Texas and Florida that masking and closing everything down doesn't make a meaningful difference (or in some arguments, improves cases). The vaccine is out there and available. The vast majority of people dying from covid were older and >90-95% of that population has been vaccinated by now. It's time things started going back to the "real" normal. Now we get to turn our attention to the new media circus of "did Covid actually originate in the Wuhan Lab? As previously stated to be a pure conspiracy theory by every major outlet?"

Weird that the "COVID is a Chinese bioweapon" crowd are also the ones spreading it like wildfire.  If that was the case, then anti-vaxxers must be getting paid off by Xi!

Drumpfy

Peak stupid as usual.

Totally get it and I'm not really worried about the government planting chips into our arms (I'm sure they've already figured out how to do that on our cell phones lol). We definitely get vaccines, but there are 0 long-term studies on vaccines that are derived from mRNA plus this wasn't even approved by the FDA. It's not an opinion that COVID-19 was blown out of proportion, it's a fact. Everyone started running around like chickens with their heads cut off to create this vaccine and honestly the lack of long-term research is concerning. Like I said I've already received the first dose, but that's only because it's practically mandated by work and school. I respect and understand your opinion though.

mRNA therapies have happened for many years and they've been researching mRNA vaccines for many years. For Covid-19 the development/approval was accelerated because there was so much money available. The coding for the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine was completed in January 2020. They've been working on Covid vaccines for years. The idea that there could be long-term health effects is without any scientific merit.

Besides, if that's the issue then there is the J&J vaccine, which is traditional vaccine technology.

The issue isn't just the total death rate (which is low from Covid). The issue is hospitals getting overloaded. In India, despite a relatively lower death rate, hospitals were absolutely swamped, bodies literally piled up in the streets, and crematoriums were running above capacity 24/7, with the country on the verge of running out of oxygen multiple times.

Now of course, the US has a stronger healthcare capacity per capita, so the situation wouldn't be apocalyptic like it was in India, but it would still be pretty bad. At least here in Canada, the government's rationale for restrictions and vaccinations was primarily about relieving hospital load the entire time. No one was claiming Covid has a crazy death rate.

There are studies that suggest OP has considerably more antibodies than someone who only had the vaccine and no COVID. Should OP start dogging you about not getting COVID since they likely have more antibodies than you do, if you didn't get COVID? Do you want others to die?

After billions and billions of doses and stats that suggest that almost (not all, but almost all) people dying of Covid are un-vaxxed, the conspiracy theories are getting old. That's what I was saying in June and it's even more true 4 months later. The evidence is overwhelming in favor of the vaccines. I say this as a conservative Republican who deplores Anthony Fauci (I don't think I've ever hated a public official the way I hate him). I say this as a person who doesn't agree with a Covid vaccine mandate.

I am definitely in the camp that those with prior confirmed infection should be given a special dispensation with respect to a vaccine mandates (they should basically be given the same "vax card" as anyone else) because natural immunity is clearly a thing. Even so, you should still get the Covid vaccine because natural immunity + the vaccine basically makes a person super-resistant to the virus. The resistance to the Covid vaccines is weird.

They really really get mad at you for bursting the anti-vax bubble.  What a bunch of snowflakes.

my firm (a BB) just updated guidance very recently. essentially the process is this. we have an honor system for vaccines where you attest that you're fully vaccinated and the date you got it. that will allow you to enter the office (provided your state doesn't have stricter rules) without a mask and not have to adhere to social distancing rules. anyone who's not attested in the system has to get a negative test within 72 hours of entering office (paid for by company) still has to wear a mask when not in their private office. it's also very specific - DO NOT ask your colleagues about their vaccine status, respect people's choices one way or the other (if they're vaccinated and wearing a cup as well as a maxi pad and 3 masks, or if they're not getting the shot and wearing a MAGA mask)

all of that said, we're still allowed to WFH 100% of the time at present, Q4 is when that'll likely change, but status quo for now

of note, this is global guidance, not specific for PWM

Thanks so much for sharing.

Have you noticed or would be aware of any employees who haven't been vaccinated but still go in without a mask?

Do you think they would get in trouble or just get a friendly reminder etc?

Vaccine mandates are a convenient way for companies to get rid of low IQ employees.  If someone "does their own research" on Qanon facebook pages and is fooled this easy, then chances are he's not contributing much to the company anyways.  Many studies have confirmed this.

Also, lying about vaccine status is a felony, and you can face legal penalties.
