HSBC London Compensation

Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody knows much about HSBC GBM -Investment Banking?
1. Comps for analyst and associates and comparison to other banks: Base and bonus
2. Reputation
3. Ranking and dealflow
4. What groups have the best dealflow (other than the obvious DCM team)
5. What are the exit ops like
6. Especially conversion rates for interns

I'd appreciate as London focussed advice as possible. Thanks in advance. Cheers

Most Helpful
  1. Comp is 50,55,60 for analysts (base) and bonuses are stub (10k), c. 30k, c. 40k. So below street but only marginally. Significantly below EB etc.
  2. Reputation is okay -- well below US BB and somewhat below European BB (CS, Barclays, UBS). Probably a better shop than BNP or SocGen tho.
  3. Probably in the 10-20 in Europe M&A by volume range every year. So reasonable, but again not top top tier M&A shop.
  4. Chemicals (genuinely a true BB team -- do mega deals). LevFin also very strong. No one else stands out massively.
  5. Ok -- you won't go to mega PE tho, more likely MM or other banks (EB etc)
  6. Unsure - most banks are pretty high though.
