H/S/W Chances

Hi all,

I am an international student who has been considering applying to a top MBA program in the states (this is an uncommon path in my country) and wanted to know if I would realistically have a chance at GSB, HBS or Wharton. My profile:

  • Currently working in equity research under a well-regarded analyst at a top BB (JPM/GS/MS), have been doing this for two years since I finished undergrad.

  • White male, senior member of the firm's local LGBTQI+ affinity group (I am LGBTQI+)

  • STEM major at a very well regarded university locally, top 50 internationally but little known in the US, 3.7/4.0 GPA and was awarded multiple scholarships.

  • GMAT: 740

Any guidance would be useful as I am really in the dark given the high degree of competition for these programs.

Cheers

Decent shot at Wharton, honestly a stretch for HBS / GSB in my view -- equity research is known to be less competitive compared to IB, and I rarely see straight IB analysts (who haven't moved to PE/corporate/VC/HF) get into either of those schools apart from those who are 2+2, which isn't comparable.  Apart from that, the profile doesn't scream unique, which, if you're working in something like ER, it really needs to -- caveat, I really have no idea how the LGBTQ piece plays into this though, and that could change things quite substantially.  Would echo the above, need to be there at least 4 years and show a promotion to have any realistic shot.

Second everything here.  With a higher gmat you might be more competitive for H/S but doubt it with a 740 as a white guy (fist bump to the retards that implement racism in the name of fighting racism).
