Hult finally gets accredited
The business school that has haunted your inbox for years has finally been accredited.
According to this article
Nearly three years after announcing a merger with Britain’s Askridge Business School, Hult International Business School today (June 20) said it had gained accreditation from AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The AACSB accreditation applies to all Hult’s programs globally.
Undoubtedly, this Hult's accreditation will have a positive impact on the school's prestige. In addition,
“The planned merger will not only give us a higher profile with employers around the world, it will also significantly increase our full-time faculty with PhDs and, for the first time, give us research output,” explained Hult President Stephen Hodges at the time. “The combination of all this will allow us to pursue additional accreditations and help our FT ranking.”
I believe that the planned merger is a good move for Hult, but at the same time Hult is viewed (by me) to be the University of Phoenix of business schools.
If you were to go to business school, would this accreditation make you consider Hult? Why or why not? Does a university's accreditation mean anything to you?
The accreditation does not change things too much in my opinion. Three of the most important things associated with a business school are the quality of its brand, its connections with industry and the size of its alumni network. Of course these are all inter-related but I feel that Hult has a long way to go to enhance these three things and I don't think an accreditation will be the catalyst in them doing so.
Yeah, I agree with you there. Hult's brand image and prestige is just not there. Plus, I believe that they are marketing too aggressively which is rather annoying.
A lot of top tier schools don't have that accreditation while some poorly ranked schools have it. Simply, that accreditation doesn't mean anything.
I just checked the list of accredited schools on the AACSB site. It seems that a lot of of the top schools are accredited by them (although I didn't look for all of the Ivy's for example). I think that accreditation does mean something, but I don't think that it'll benefit Hult much.
accreditation is a joke. Every accreditation body gives a stamp to Harvard/Stanford types, AND a couple thousands of others.
The only value-proving group memberships worth mentioning are AAU, Ivy League, Public Ivy statuses, which are far from an accreditation.
