Interviewed there in November-December. Pretty relaxed. Met with the head underwriter and the MD i was gonna work with. Pretty casual nothing tough cause they knew i had experience coming from brokerage. Afterwards they had me meet with one of their analysts just to chat.
Anyways, I got the job and accepted the offer but ended up cancelling to take a different offer.
Interesting. Any technical questions or excel model test?
Very light. Asked me about current market trends. It was mostly fit.
Hunt is a huge company that does many things. If you're an analyst on the debt side, I don't see a tough financial model test coming. If you're in their military housing acquisitions side, that could much different.
Bump, did a phone interview with these guys yesterday (lending side, non-agency stuff) and I'm wondering in anyone here has actually worked for them or knows someone who has. What's it like there and how are the salaries?
They pay their underwriters rather well. A base of over $100k and bonus potential to about $185k.
Any insight on originations at Hunt vs underwriting? Thank you!!!
dayum. as an analyst?
That pay is for an agency underwriter, not an analyst. This was to give you some scale regarding advancement. U/W's at banks don't make anywhere near what they will at a nice "small" agency shop. Hunt also has some niche portfolio products they're doing.
I do loans with Hunt and have a buddy that's a national rep there. Every year they throw a big event (usually West Coast) and set us up in nice hotels and take us to football games. All booz and food is paid for. They seem like a great company. They're a tad spread out, with some East Coast staff processing West Coast deals, but they make it work.
You mean 85k bonus plus 100k base? or 100k base plus 185k bonus? Because im not buying the latter.
If an underwriter can pull 100k base, it seems reasonable to assume that an analyst would make similar to what somewhere like Northmarq pays analysts, around low-60ish base?

Hello, I'm heading into an interview tomorrow afternoon for a financial analyst job with Hunt Companies. Specifically in their LIHTC division (affordable housing). I will be presented with some sort exam and/or case study to analyze during the interview. Any thoughts on how I can prepare for this interview and key aspects I should familiarize my self with?
Much appreciated.

Anyone have insight on Hunt Capital Partners, their affordable housing tax credit syndication team?
Actually yeah, I’ve been with HCP for 4 years now. What are you looking to learn about us?
I was just wondering what the deal flow and culture is like. Has tax reform impacted the work flow? I just had a phone interview for a tax credit underwriter position in Boston.
