I Fucking Hate Comments
I feel like a degenerate, turning comments every day. Making the presentation the way the VP likes to see it, going through multiple rounds of comments. Only to then have the MD come in like a BSD and swing his fresh mark-up all over the deck. I am working my ass off getting 5h of sleep on a good day and working at least half of most weekends turning bloody comments. v69, v101 been there done that, I f*ing hate it
I am a guy with already ~2 years full-time finance experience and joined as an Analyst 1 under the impression I would get to do more meaningful work. While in the end we are all doing the same, turning the comments of the person above us and then the person above that. I don’t know if it’s my team or the job, but I find it hard to accept that my job is just visualising the thoughts of the MD on a slide.
Anybody share this perspective or have another perspective?
Unfortunately this is the life of an analyst my friend. More meaningful work doesn’t really come along until the VP level.
for real i feel im just a processing machine and an overglorified and overpaid assistant...
I've had this experience, but made me incredible with attention to detail for work projects I completed.
When I lateraled to a more loose bank / team, VPs trusted my work and rarely took much time spot checking. So while I was happy to get away from a rigorous reviewing environment, I don't take for granted the banker it shaped me to be.
Just something to keep in mind the next time your PowerPoint deck reaches v100+.
I dig your vibe so much.
Tbh, I think IB below VP/D is essentially writing out and making edits on your seniors thoughts.
Yup that’s pretty much it. We are glorified graphic designers in PPT
Focus on your strengths and do what’s best for you
GTFO crypto shill.
You came in with the wrong expectation.
