I got my first IBD interview in London..
Hey guys, I am new here and looking for your help.
Long story told short -- > Since high school I have always been interested in IB and I have always been a top student. Because of a few wrong decisions, coupled with some health related problems, I could not break into the industry and now, at 25 years of age and out of a 2 year MSc Finance at a top French b-school, I finally got lucky.
Basically, after taking advantage of a family connection, I managed to secure an interview for a full time analyst in a top 20 IB in London. Its not BB but still very competitive and I would love to get this. I am very well prepared for the technical questions but I would like to hear your advice about how to tackle the behavior one. In particular I am worried about:
-
My age: I am now 25, will be 26 when I potentially start. 2-3 years older than the typical analyst
-
Applying for a full time analyst without an IB internship. I have actually interned at a start-up and a VC during my MSc Finance but the VC part did not include valuation.
I guess what I am trying to ask is, I realize I would not have gotten this interview without the family connection but, since I have, am I supposed to be more or less on par with the other applicants and is the interview performance is likely to be what matters, or my non banking track record might still hunt me ?
Thanks guys,
Marius
